President's Update

20 Aug 2021 by Ian Meyer

To all members sponsors and supporters

Whilst the pandemic and ongoing issues continue to plague our football season, I understand the frustrations at not having the ability to showcase our football club in season 2021 on a consistent basis

The challenges of 2021 have been far greater than that of the previous season where we did not get to play at all. The interruptions have been very difficult to administer whilst the conflicts of club functions and the ongoing cancellations of events have been a major impact to the club supporters.

At this stage there is no conclusion as to how the season will end with 3 of our teams well positioned to play finals it is defiantly hard to manage the expectations of returning to footy when we don’t know what’s happening form week to week

However here is what we do know

The Seniors and Under 19s, who both are currently sitting 1st, are best positioned to return to either go straight into the Semi Finals with the winner moving to a Grand Final or depending on the date of return play off straight into a Grand Final . The Grand Final can be played up to the 9th of October as the last date of opportunity. In the event the Grand Final can’t be played, the team finishing first in the home and away season will be declared the Premier.

Our Reserves season is now officially over as they did not finish inside the top 6, narrowly missing out, however a big thank you to all of them and the coaching staff for the season.

Our Senior Women’s are also eagerly waiting to either play against Upwey to qualify for the Grand Final or move straight to the Grand Final vs Mt Evelyn. Similar scenario for the Women’s if the dates don’t align, the premiership will be awarded to Mt Evelyn as they finished 1st on the ladder.

Unfortunately club events have been postponed and are currently being worked through – Club 30 – Major raffle – Presentation night etc. are all yet to be realigned to when the restrictions allow us to return back to the club.

The club is set to host the Men’s Semi Finals and Grand Final, however this year will be without crowds which in turn will create its own levels of both frustrations and challenges.

I ask that we all be patient and allow us to navigate through the challenges and we will hopefully have positive news of a return in coming weeks with the ability to finish off with a finals campaign at Beaconsfield

Kind Regards
